Obituary

Naomi Holsey entered this world on April 7, 1938, in Pinehurst, Georgia, to loving parents, Mr. Lee Howard Holsey and Eliza Jane Holsey. Naomi attended grade school in Dooly County, Georgia. She furthered her education in Miami-Dade County Public Schools at Lindsey Hopkins Technical School, where she received her certification in nursing and early childhood education.

Naomi worked for a number of years as a nurse’s aide at Live Oak Nursing Home. After leaving the nurse’s aide profession, Naomi worked at the James E. Scott Early Childhood Development Center (J.E.S.C.A.) as an Early Childhood and Pre-K Teacher, where she retired after 25 years of faithful service.

Naomi started her family in Pinehurst, Georgia, with her beautiful daughters, Wyomia Holsey (1953), Cecelia Holsey-Sharpe (1958), and Diane Holsey-Dials (1959). In 1961, Naomi moved to Miami, Florida, where she met and married Willie Howard Lewis. From this union, two children, , Belinda & Willie Lewis, Jr., were conceived.

A god-fearing woman, Naomi accepted Christ into her life at an early age. As a child, she fellowshipped and sang in the Choir at New Bethel C.M.E. Church of Pinehurst, Georgia. Upon moving to Miami, Naomi found a new place of worship at Memorial Temple Baptist Church. She later joined and worshipped at New Way Fellowship Baptist Church until she was called home to rest.

On July 14, 2023, the Lord called Naomi home to rest. Naomi was preceded in death by parents, Eliza Jane and Lee Howard Holsey; children, Wyomia Holsey, Belinda Lewis and Willie Lewis, Jr.; siblings, Eva Lewis, Lee Holsey, and Jack Holsey; and grandson, Henry Carter. Naomi leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Cecelia Holsey-Sharpe (Glenn) and Diane Holsey-Dials; adopted children, Darsha Hunt, Chaalo Lewis, Timothy Lewis (Chyneathia), and Angelo Lewis (Shanell); grandchildren, Eddie Brown III, Shalone Lewis, Lakeisha Lewis (Antoine), Richetta Dials, Gaston Magwood, and Lashawn Carter; great-grandchildren, Lamar Johnson (Terrica), Laquetta Johnson, Syria Lewis, Shamiya Lewis, Timothy Lewis Jr., Demetrious Lewis, Kourtney Hicks, Antoine Hicks, Jr., Kayawnie Mitchell, Kani Cross, Angelo Lewis, Jr., Jahari Lewis, Shalone Lewis Jr., Shamari Lewis, Jovan Roberts, Egypt Dials, Nevaeh Byron, Taurianna Gissendanner, Jamier Magwood, Anthony Peterson, and Henry Carter, Jr.; siblings, Victoria, Linda, Cynthia, Monica, Lextine, Marion, Sylvester, Jackie, Reginald, and Leon; extended family, Nona, Shantrell and Jimia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
