Obituary

Nathaniel Thompson, a.k.a. “FATS”, was born a breech baby on January 24, 1952, in Miami, Florida, to the late Roberta and Barrie Thompson.

He left this universe on May 30, 2024, at the age of 72.

Nathaniel received his education at Miami Northwestern Senior High School where he was solicited in the ninth grade to play on the varsity football team. Little known facts about Nathaniel include that he played semi-pro football and enjoyed playing his guitar. The guitar was retired when the task of purchasing land, designing, and building his family home (one of his life’s goals) consumed most of his spare time. Nathaniel also enjoyed listening to jazz, watching football and karate movies, and playing solitaire.

Nathaniel retired from Miami Dade County School Board as a bus driver in 2017. He was a loving, dedicated, and determined husband and father. Nathaniel was a smooth, classy dude, very serious and focused. He was the King of Sacrifice. Nathaniel made many sacrifices during his lifetime to provide for his family and accomplish his goals. He was hardworking, disciplined, and committed. His unforgettable ways and presence will be missed. There can only be one Fat Boy.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: two daughters, Pamela Denise Thompson (Al-shaer) and Melinda Yvette Thompson (Barrett); one grandson, Marcus Nathaniel Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Mia Thompson, Krista Thompson, and Layla Thompson; brother, Larry Thompson; sister, Brenda (Thompson) Thompkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other sorrowing relatives, and lifelong friends.
