Obituary
Otis Green was born to the late Tally and Johnnie Bell Green on January 21, 1937, in Shellman, Georgia.
In his younger years, he attended a small school in Shellman before he decided to work in the fields to help his family. While working in the fields, Otis felt that there was more to life, so he decided to move with his aunt to Miami, Florida.
While in Miami, Otis married Sarah P. Scott-Green on June 29, 1962. They were blessed with three boys, Roderick, Mitchell, and Lorenzo, and a daughter, Michelle. Otis was known to be a faithful church member at the New Fellowship Christian Center where he would strengthen his faith and love for the Lord while wearing his collection of tailored sharp suits.
Otis worked for Joe Radison Construction Company where he found much success as a lead foreman. It was there that he realized he had a gift in construction. While working on the job, he started developing the knowledge of how to fix and build things. He would lay concrete, replace toilets, reconstruct kitchens, install cabinets, build walls, and more. You name it, he could do it! Otis, realizing that he could install everything in a house, decided to leave a legacy for his family by building a house with his own hands.
Two things that Otis loved other than God and his family was soulful music and cars. He collected records from his favorite artists, and he also had a collectable car that he cherished. It was never uncommon for you to catch Otis cruising down the street at his own pace in his freshly washed pick-up truck, playing his favorite tunes.
On the evening of March 3, 2023, Otis took his last breath at the age of 86 and answered the Lord’s call, peacefully resting in the house he built.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tally and Johnnie Bell Green; brothers, Willie Ray Green, Willie James Green, and Leroy Green; sisters, Thelma Green and Annie Doris Bronner; daughter, Mary Green; and grandson, Vincent Green, Sr.
He leaves his precious memories with his wife, Sarah P. Green; sons, Roderick Green (Cyndi), Mitchell Green, and Lorenzo Green (Joyell); daughter, Michelle Green; sister, Emma Smith;
