Obituary

Phyllis Mary Wilson Richardson, born on August 14, 1961, in Newark, New Jersey, entered this world with her twin brother, Phillip, as a cherished daughter of Harold and Juanita Wilson. She was one of eleven children raised in a home filled with love and strong family values.

As a child, Phyllis attended St. Antonios and 8th Street schools and graduated from Barringer High School. She had a special bond with her siblings and treasured the relationships they shared throughout her life.

Phyllis was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Kelly Wilson, Charlene Thomas, and Patrice Thomas. She was a loving “mother in love” to Jayvonte, Sr., and Joshua. Her heart overflowed with pride for her grandchildren: Tihesha Joubert, Khalil Joubert, Tierra Phillips, and Tianna Phillips, and the twins, J’adore and King Waters. She also embraced her bonus grandchildren, Jayvonte, Jr. (Pooh), and Armani Waters, with the same warmth and love. Her great-grandchildren, SaRiyah Lewis, Kehlani Joubert, Sayvion Joubert, Kahari Joubert, and Peace Marie, were her ultimate joy and a testament to her enduring legacy.

Phyllis attended cosmetology school and pursued a hair care career, using her creativity and skills to bring beauty and confidence to others. Over the years, she also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a law secretary, a Relay Service customer representative, and a leading canvasser for elections. Her hard work, dedication, and adaptability were a testament to her strength and determination.

Phyllis was a vibrant woman who lived life passionately. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, an avid lover of football and basketball, and someone who cherished simple joys like playing card games, particularly spades and 500. She had a talent for completing puzzles, often doing them back-to-back, a reflection of her focus and determination.

A homemaker and a businesswoman, Phyllis worked hard for her family and others, demonstrating resilience and strength even in the face of her disability. Her faith was an anchor throughout her life, and she served faithfully as a member of New Generation Baptist Church, where she was a prayer warrior and a beacon of hope for many.

In 1996, Phyllis met the love of her life, Raymond Richardson, and their love story culminated in marriage in 2010. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and mutual support.

Phyllis is now reunited with her late siblings, Claude Wilson, Diane Wilson, and Victoria Berry.

Phyllis leaves behind to cherish her memories: children, Kelly Wilson, Charlene Thomas, and Patrice Thomas; bonus children, Jayvonte, Sr., and Joshua; grandchildren, Tihesha Joubert, Khalil Joubert, Tierra Phillips, and Tianna Phillips; the twins, J’adore and King Waters; bonus grandchildren, Jayvonte, Jr. (Pooh), and Am1ani Waters; great-grandchildren, SaRiyah Lewis, Kehlani Joubert, Sayvion Joubert, Kahari Joubert, and Peace Marie; siblings, Harold Wilson, Jr., Martin Wilson, and Donald Wilson; her twin, Phillip Wilson; and Carol Ann Johnson, Linda Montgomery, and Marian Wilson.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her. She touched lives with her kindness, her unwavering faith, and her vibrant spirit. While her absence leaves a void, her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were blessed to know her.

Rest in peace, Phyllis Mary Wilson Richardson. You are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
