Obituary
Prentiss Carter was born on October 19, 1987, in Miami, Florida to his proud parents, Ms. [Feleicia] Carter and Mr. Fred Mckinnon.
“P”, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, received his education through Miami Dade County Public Schools. He was the oldest of eleven children. As a young child even maturing into a grown man, he developed a passion for fishing and cooking. He worked as a chef for many years and found joy in creating delicious meals and bringing people together to enjoy his food. Prentiss was an entrepreneur at heart which led him to establish Mr. Foodz BBQ. He was always looking for ways to demonstrate the love of God through his service for others and displayed the morals that his grandparents, the late Amana and Frank Carter, instilled in him as a child.
Prentiss was a man of God and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He would often speak about his beliefs and what he believed was right. He cherished time spent with family and friends and was ever willing to lend a helping hand to whoever he encountered. If you ever been blessed to meet him, he had an old soul. A soul that loved taking pictures and giving all the women and kids in his life his warm forehead kisses. A soul who was fearless and mighty! His job here on earth is complete and although he will be truly missed, he would tell each one of us, “I’m ok, please don’t cry for me, I am free.”
On October 17, 2025, the Lord said to him, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.” Prentiss leaves to cherish his memories and celebrates his life: His parents, [Felicia] Carter and Fred Mckinnon, and his bonus dad, Derek Gilmore; sons, Jaquan Carter, Antonio Carter, and Royal Cunningham; his daughters, Kyomi Cunningham and Malaysia Cunningham; his siblings, Derrick Gilmore, Dereka Gilmore, Kendrick Carter, Tiffany Carter, Kierra Gilmore, Ebony Carter, Shakeria Carter, Derriah Carter, and Jeanere and Jemere Carter; and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
