Obituary
Richard Driessen was born on November 12, 1938, on Hilton Head Island, SC. He was the first born of the late Henry Driessen, Sr. and the late Alice Robinson Driessen. Hannah Barnwell was the midwife who delivered Richard Driessen.
Richard Driessen was a very bright student and graduated from Michael C. Riley High School in Bluffton, SC. In 1956, he moved from Hilton Head Island, SC to pursue "the big city life" in Miami, FL. Richard was adored by all, but it was Margaret Brown Driessen who was the love of his life and who became his wife; who also preceded him in death. God blessed them with five beautiful children. Richard Driessen, Jr., and Roland Driessen preceded him in death. His son, Kenneth Green from Hilton Head Island, SC, and Richard Driessen's brothers, Henry Driessen, Bernard Driessen, William Driessen, and sister, Margie Driessen of Hilton Head Island, SC, also preceded him in death.
In Richard Driessen's early years in Miami, he worked for Southern Wines & Spirits as a salesman where he received many trophies for outstanding sales for exceeding his sales quotas for the month. He then worked for George Lazarus Meat Co. where he delivered high quality meats to Kosher meat stores, and finished his employment with Gator Freightways where he hauled freight to the tri-county areas - Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties always within the expected delivery times.
On April 20, 2024, God called Richard home and whispered to him come home and find rest. "Your Work is Done."
He leaves to treasure his precious memories three daughters, Rochelle Driessen, Regina Driessen, and Rotasha Driessen; four grandchildren, Raynard Driessen (Anoise ), Brittany Oliver, Breanna Oliver, and Tiara McLean; two great-grandchildren, Carlton Wright, Jr., and Malia Cockroft; two sisters, Mary Driessen Washington, and Ida Mae Perry both of Hilton Head Island, SC; and one brother, Daniel Driessen (Yvonne) of Hilton Head Island, SC; three sisters-in-law, Claretha Driessen of Hardeville, SC, Dorothy Driessen of Hilton Head Island SC, and Edna Pratt of Miami, FL. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
