Obituary
An Early Life
On May 13, 1938, the late James Davis and Catherine Weaver-Davis welcomed their third child of five, Robert Lee Davis, known affectionately to his family and friends as “Dude.”
Dude grew up in Inverness, FL, with a love of sports, particularly football. He attended Booker T. Washington High School. He moved to New York where he stayed with his uncle. He then relocated to Miami, where he lived with his sister, Mattie Richardson, and worked in construction.
A Love Story
While in Miami, he met his lifelong love, Jencie Goodman. The two found in one another a true deep friendship, bonding over their love. Eventually, they began to go out for dates, fostering what would grow into an unconditional love. As their love blossomed, they soon became inseparable and were married on October 16, 1993. Their bond grew over the next 30 years.
A Life of Dedicated Service
For over 30 years, Dude had an illustrious career with the Laborers’ International Union of North America #1628.
A Time To Rest
On Friday, January 19, 2024, the Lord called one of his children to eternal rest and peace. Dude was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine Davis; son, Terry Davis (Michelle); and sister, Mattie Richardson (Frank).
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Jencie Davis; sons, Ronald Coy (Debra), Michael Coy (Lisa) of Ocala, FL, and Kenneth Davis (Dahl) of Miami, FL; daughters, Renea Coy Wasington of Clermont, FL, Michelle Mills (Melvin), and Katherine Kendrick (Eddie Jr.) of Miami, FL; stepsons, Newton and William of Nassau, Bahamas; two stepdaughters, Lagayla Goodman and Princess Hankerson (Alfonso) of Miami, FL; two sisters, Betty McKinnon of Ocala, FL, and Tammy McCauley (DeKovin) of New Jersey; brother, James Davis of Ocala, FL; sisters-in-law, Levern Hall, Pricilla Ambrister (Freddy), Delcinr Ingraham (Kevin), Georgina Fernander (Michael), Newtlyn Higgs (Roger) of Nassau, Bahamas; two brothers-in-law, Carlton Roxbury (Helen) and James Roxbury of Nassau, Bahamas; Samuel Johnson, Margaret Ferguson, and Shavonda Anderson (Mike) of Miami, FL; thirty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
