Obituary

On July 11, 1980, Rufus Tead Wright was born to his mother, Olivia Barfield, and his late father, Rufus Wright. From the time he was born we all knew he could be a special gift from God to our family. Rufus was born and raised in Sanford, Florida, where he was raised by his mother and late grandparents.

During his childhood years of upbringing, he lived in a loving environment filled with joy, peace, and love all around him. As his mother, I can recall on several occasions the magnitude of love he poured out to me, his grandparents, and others as a kid growing up. His grandparents played a vital role in his upbringing. They helped to train him up with wisdom and knowledge, and were gentle and humble teaching him skills for life. He was a well mannered child that didn’t give anyone trouble along his walking journey.

Rufus was taken care of, as his mother worked to provide him with the best quality of life. Our family and friends cherished every moment or lifetime experience they encountered with him. As a child, he continued to live with his grandparents to look after them on a daily basis as they moved along up in age. He was their vessel to life and they was apart of his vessel to life as well.

Rufus continued to live with his grandparents up until the Lord called them both back to his kingdom of Heaven. He was their caregiver day in and day out. Rufus lived in Sanford up until his sophomore year of high school, right before his grandmother passed away. Once she passed away, him and granddad moved down to Miami, Florida, in 1997 to continue life with his mother and two sisters.

While living in Miami, Rufus formed friendships that drew a magnetic bond with cultures all around him. He attended Miami Jackson Senior High School, where he was popular and known throughout his school and neighborhood. Over the years, he loved to play video games. He was glued to the TV and became so good, he beat every game he played time and time again. That was a hobby that kept him busy as a high schooler. In 2000, Rufus graduated high school from Miami Jackson Senior High School.
