Obituary

Sallie Pearl Hardin was the first child born to Jake and Dorothy Hardin on September 23, 1931, in McDuffie County, Thomson, Georgia. She received her education in the Georgia School System.

Later in life her family relocated to Miami, Florida. She was very independent and served many years as a domestic worker. Always reaching out to help others.

Sallie was never married and had no children of her own. However, she had many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

As a result of her love for family and a tender caring heart, she became the caretaker for her mom. At a young age she accepted the Lord as her Savior.  Later in life, she recommitted herself to God. This newness of life led her to join the family of God at First Baptist Church of Brownsville where her sister, Beulah Shivers, and mom, Dorothy Hardin, were members. During her fellowship at the church, she expressed her love of God and thirst of studying the Bible. In addition to attending worship service, she looked forward to Noon Day Bible study.

Sallie always had a heart of helping and caring for people. She will be remembered as someone who loved the Lord, family, and all the people God put in her way during her life’s journey.

God allowed her to spread love for 92 years, even during her last days as her health was failing. She was still sharing love to the medical staff that cared for her at the hospitals and other facilities. Sallie kept the joy of the Lord alive with a sense of humor. It was her way of keeping hope alive with her favorite words: “I’m alright” and “I’m blessed and highly favored.”

On Sunday, December 10, 2023, God called her from labor to reward, and welcomed her home. Although she is no longer with us physically, we will cherish the memories of her life in our hearts.

Precious memories will be cherished by her last two sisters: Bernice Cook and her husband, Deacon James Cook; Mildred Moore and her husband, Reverend Cleon Moore; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, her church family, and friends.
