Shatavia, who was affectionately known as “Bubbles” or “Tavia” by her family and friends, was born March 28, 1987, in Miami, Florida. She was the first child of Jonathan Simmions and Nicolette Guy.

 

Shatavia spent the last 36 years of her life living in Miami, Florida. Growing up, she attended Orchard Villa Elementary, Charles R. Drew, and Miami Northwestern Senior High School, where she graduated in 2005. 

 

Shatavia was born and raised in Brown Sub, however, she later moved to Overtown in 2003 with her mother and sisters, and that’s when life began for her. Shatiavia was employed with the United States Postal Service.

 

Shatavia enjoyed fishing, dancing, making jokes, and spending time with her kids, nieces, nephews, friends, and family. 

 

On November 27, 2023, God saw fit to call His child home to be with her mother, Nicole and aunts, Patricia and Kim. Shatavia leaves behind her two loving daughters, Caelyn and Cadynce Wilson; grandmothers, Lillian Gordan and Almedia Smith; great-grandma, Bessie Gordan; her daddy, Jonathan Simmons; sisters, Peaches Guy (Tavarus), Joneka Simmons, Brittney Simmons, Patricia Simmons (Lawrance), Barbara Horner, and Martisha Lee; step-sister, Makayla Mills; god-sister, Ebony Glass; special cousins, Shervonie (Hannibal) Erine and Ebony; aunts, Michelle (Charles), Judy, Sherrie, Yvette, Stephanie, and Brayne; nieces, Tailha Belton, Antaniece Guy, Da’Nayvia Guy, Lauren and Latrese Mchorne, Taliyah Spencer, and Ty’Jerika Ford; nephews, Jaddarion Jones, Freddie Bradley, and Joel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends, including a special friend of 22 years, Jessica Gordan.
