Obituary

Born on February 24, 1968, in Pasco County, Sonja LaChelle Palmer was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Janet (Alexander) Williams and James Bryant, and from an early age, it was clear that she was destined to leave a lasting impact on this world.

Growing up, Sonja was a bright and intelligent young girl who excelled in all she did. She played softball, stayed out of trouble, and carried herself with grace and kindness. She was a proud graduate of North Miami Beach High School, class of 1985, and later pursued higher education at Florida Memorial College, where her passion for learning and helping others flourished.

Sonja dedicated years to shaping young minds as a successful and beloved teacher. She approached her work with patience, wisdom, and a genuine love for her students, leaving an imprint on countless lives. Even after being diagnosed with lupus during college, she never let it define her. She faced every challenge with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a heart full of gratitude, overcoming obstacles time and time again. Never one to complain, Sonja inspired those around her with her resilience and unshakable belief that God was always in control.

Faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of New Way Fellowship Praise & Worship Church, she found immense joy in worship, sharing God’s word, and uplifting others with her testimony. She spoke of His goodness at every opportunity, ensuring that His love and light radiated through her in everything she did.

Sonja’s heart belonged to her family, and nothing brought her more joy than the love she shared with her husband, Franklin Palmer, Jr. Their union was a beautiful testament to patience, respect. and an unbreakable bond rooted in faith and love. Together, they welcomed their greatest blessing-their miracle baby, Franklin Palmer III -a gift she cherished beyond words.

Outside of her devotion to family and faith, Sonja had a zest for life. She loved to dance and travel, embracing every moment with joy and enthusiasm. Her laughter was contagious, her spirit was gentle yet strong, and her smile could brighten even the darkest days.

Sonja leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and perseverance. She is survived by her loving husband, Franklin Palmer, Jr.; precious son, Frankie Palmer III; mom, Janet Williams; siblings, Alexander (Tawana) Williams, Jr., Leah (Steven) Lyles, British Williams, Reshae Williams, Lisa Bryant, Micheal Cross and James Bryant; nieces and nephews, Dominique Dorsett, Jordan Sumner, Micheal Cross, Jon Cross, Hendrix Lyles, Eryka (Alaindy Luis XVI) Palmer, Symone Palmer, Kimberly Palmer, Brain Palmer, Jr., Valentino Jr., Valentina White, Tina Williams. Shabbah Williams, Tony Williams and her extended family, church family, and dear friends who will continue to carry her light forward.

Rest peacefully, Sonja. Your faith was your anchor, your love was your legacy, and your light will never fade.
