Obituary
Theodore G. Patterson, affectionately known as "Teddy," was a lifelong resident of Miami whose warm spirit, humor, and vibrant personality touched the lives of all who knew him. He passed away on May 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, laughter, and deep devotion to family.
Born on February 13, 1962, Theodore was raised in a family dedicated to service and community. He was the son of the late Clarence Patterson, former City Manager of North Miami, and Maxine Patterson, a devoted Licensed Practical Nurse at Miami Heart Institute. Carrying forward these values, Theodore lived a life marked by compassion, kindness. and connection with others.
Theodore attended Miami Jackson High School, graduating in 1979. Shortly after, he proudly began one of the most meaningful chapters of his life, fatherhood, with the birth of his daughters, Octavia and Shante. Later, he was blessed with his son, Dominick, whom he cherished deeply, His children remained the center of his life, and his love for them was evident in all that he did.
Professionally, Theodore worked at Miami Heart Institute, where he was known for his uplifting spirit and ability to bring comfort and joy to patients and colleagues alike. He also applied his skills in construction work and contributed his me working with the post office. No matter the role, Theodore's work ethic and positive attitude left a lasting impression.
Theodore had a zest for life that was evident in his many passions. He enjoyed baseball, football, and playing ping pong, and had a deep appreciation for jazz and old-school R & B music from the 1970's. A unique talent of his included playing the oboe, reflecting both creativity and discipline. He was also a devoted fan of professional wrestling and was fondly known to call himself "" Rick Flair," bringing laughter and personality to those around him.
Known for his meticulous nature, Theodore took pride in his appearance and surroundings, always presenting himself with style, confidence, and care. His presence was both uplifting and memorable, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went.
Theodore was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maxine Patterson; his sister, Deborah Brown; his brothers. Robert Patterson and Clarence Patterson: his sister-in-law. Glenda Patterson, and his nephew Rufus Lawhorn.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: daughters Octavia Haylock-Everett and Shanté Thompson, and son Dominick Patterson; his grandchildren, Corey K. Everett and Chloe A. Thompson; his sister, Andrea Brown Davis (Nathaniel Davis); and his sister-in-law. Corrice Patterson. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, including Andrea Richards (Konrad Richards), Kimberly Marshall (Leo Marshall), Jaret Davis, Robert Patterson, and Chaz Patterson, along with great-nieces and nephews, Arielle Lawhorn (Bri' Yanah O'Hara), Christopher Lawhorn (Dominic & Phoenix), Keraha and Desire Richards and Selah Marshall, and extended family members, and dear friends.
Theodore's legacy is one of joy, resilience, and unwavering love. His humor and ability to brighten up any room will forever be remembered. Though he is no longer with us. His spirit lives in the hearts of those who loved him.
