Obituary
Tony “Pete” Brinson was born on September 22, 1944, to the late Tony Brinson and Mary Brown in Perrine, Florida. He was the second out of eleven children.
Tony gave himself the nickname “Pete” after his childhood hero, Pistol Pete. He was a graduate of Mays High School and attended college at FAMU, where he was a proud member of the Marching 100. Tony had many jobs in his lifetime; however, the majority of his career was as a driver. He worked for and retired from Dade County after 30 years of employment. He was a faithful member of the church and parking lot ministry at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for 20 years. Tony was truly a Jack-of-all-trades, with skills ranging from landscaping to grilling, mechanics, and his main passion, fishing. Anyone who knew Pete knew he was a great fisherman, from catching yellowtail to fighting with a shark for hours.
Tony fought the good fight for six weeks in various medical facilities in Miami-Dade, and on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Tony went home to be with the Lord.
Left to cherish his life, legacy, and memories are: his wife, Marilyn Brinson; five sons, Tony Brinson, Jr., Andre Brinson, Brett Butler, Keith Smith, and Javon Gibson; daughter, Niki Maurrasse; bonus children, Eric Smith and Charlotte Elliott; 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna “DeeDee” Lawson, Timothy “Bump” Brown, Elizabeth “Nean” Brown, and Kenneth Brown; special nieces, Rhonda Lawson and Adriane “Tutti” Williams; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by: his parents, Tony Brinson and Mary Brown; brothers, Bobby Brinson, Johnny Brinson, Eugene Brown, Jr., Curtis “Curt” Brown, Ernest “Earny”
Brown, and Aaron Brinson; sisters, Barbara “Sista” Shivers, Bertha Brinson, and Karen Brown; and son, Vernon Brinson.
