Obituary

Valarie Denice Walton was born on August 16, 1960, in Miami, Florida, to Clyde Eugene Walton, Sr., and Juann Waldon Jones. Valarie was best known as “Val” by her family and friends. Val accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and served as a member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James MacKinnon.

Val received her education in Miami, Florida, and attended Miami Jackson Senior High School. After high school, she was employed by Miami-Dade School Board as a bus aide for over 30 years. She recently retired and loved her new job of being free of work. Val loved to dance, never missed a family event, and loved taking family vacations. She was an avid Bible reader. She loved sharing Bible verses with her sons.

On March 11, 2025, Val answered God as He called her home. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Lillie Danice Stanford and Tamela Walton; and one brother, Steven Moye.

Val leaves to cherish her memories: three loving sons, Michael E. Douglas (Denise), Cluis Hester, and Lazarus Waldon (Thatiana); mother, Joanna Jones; five sisters, Cynthia Maycock, Terry Ann Waldon, Connie Exilhomme (Joe), Yolanda Walton-Holt (Joe), and Cherry Moye (Renty); seven brothers, Ronald Stanford, Donald Stanford, Clyde Walton, Jr. (Carolyn), Andre Walton (Shantavia), Eugene Walton (Rashonda), Michael Kerr (Tiffany), and Kavin Walton (Tanya); two aunts, Betty Darity and Barbara Bailey; nine grandchildren, one of whom preceded her in death; and four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
