Obituary
A time to be born…
Walter Frank Clark, Sr., was born on July 16, 1947, in Georgiana, Alabama, to the late Johnnie Mae Clark and the late William Clark, Sr. He was the ninth sibling out of fifteen brothers and sisters: William Clark, Jr., Edward Dixon, Johnny Clark (Deceased), Thomas Clark (Deceased), Paul Clark, Pauline Clark, Shirley Clark (Deceased), Helen Clark (Deceased), Charles Clark (Deceased), Stella Wallace, Evelyn Sallie, Steve Clark, Barbara Chambers, and Dwayne Clark.
A time to be educated…
Walter was educated in the Butler County School System of Georgiana, Alabama. After he graduated from high school, he moved to Miami, Florida, to live with his older brother, William, Jr. and his wife, the late Evelyn Clark.
A time to serve…
At the early age of twelve, Walter joined Friendship Baptist Church in his hometown. Later, when he moved to Miami, he joined Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he faithfully sang in the Voices of Praise Choir, Brothers of Ebenezer Choir and the Mass Choir. He was a talented singer going all the way back to his childhood. Some of his favorite songs included: “Everything I do, I keep on Leaning on the Lord”, “I Love to Praise Him”, “I Won’t Complain”, “I’ve Been Singing Hallelujah All Day” and “Jesus is my Rock”.
A time to work…
Walter was employed by the Solid Waste Department of the City of Miami, Florida. He was a leader and held the position as supervisor until the time of his retirement.
A time to love…
While living in Miami, Walter met and married Haddie Clark, who preceded him in death. From this union, two sons were born, Walter Jr. and Michael.
Walter was blessed to have another chance at love, and recently married Sabrina Grubbs Clark of Miami, Florida.
A time to live…
Walter lived a life of service and dedication to those whom he loved. He was faithful to his family and his church family at Ebenezer. He often times donated the collard greens from his personal garden that were prepared for numerous church dinner sales.
A time to leave…
During a very brief illness, Walter had the opportunity to be visited by family and friends who found pleasure in singing some of his favorite songs at his bedside. You could see that he was at peace. Then early in the morning on Wednesday, August 25, Walter heard the voice of Jesus say, “Well done my good and faithful servant!” He bid this world farewell and went to join the heavenly choir where he could truly “sing all day.”
A time to mourn...
Walter leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: a wife, Sabrina Grubbs Clark; two sons, Walter Clark, Jr., and Michael Clark; one daughter, Brittany Clark; five brothers, William Clark, Jr. (Miami), Paul Clark (Detroit), Dwayne Clark (Georgiana), Steve Clark (Montgomery, Alabama), and Edward Dixon (Chicago); four sisters, Pauline Clark (Detroit), Stella Wallace, Evelyn Sallie, and Barbara Clark (Georgiana, Alabama); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
