Obituary
Wardell Westberry, born on July 11, 1959, in Miami, Florida, was the beloved son of the late Jason and Hattie Pearl Westberry. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arentha Westberry; brother, Angelo Westberry; and life partner, Carlene Louis. Wardell graduated from Carol City High School and went on to build a diverse career working as a laborer, dairy plant supervisor, and later as a commercial truck driver. He concluded his professional journey with the City of Miami Gardens, retiring as a School Crossing Guard in December 2023. He was a devoted father and loving life partner. Wardell committed his life to Christ at an early age. As part of his spiritual journey, he became a faithful member of New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Elder Kenneth Duke. Wardell was widely known and loved for his family and friends' cookouts and BBQs. As a passionate Miami Dolphins fan, he celebrated his team with pride and enthusiasm. His heart was open to everyone he encountered, always willing to help, always ready with a smile. His greatest joy and value in life came from the deep love he held for his family and friends. He leaves behind his two daughters, Lakisha Gray (Husband David) and Devanie Westberry; three sisters, Rose Mary Powell, Sylvia Westberry, and Linda Frederic; three brothers, Coy Westberry, Anthony Westberry, and Anson Westberry; and six cherished grandchildren: Kyeshaad Pennywell, Jahaad Pennywell, Ariyanna Pennywell, Zhuri Duplessis, Dayvah Gray, and Zaier Robbins. He is also survived by three nieces, Shawnika Butler, Chrentha Davis, and Carmen Hardy; two former life partners, Pamela Goss and Hattie Johnson; and a host of extended family members and dear friends. Wardell’s legacy of love, kindness, and loyalty lives on in A Blessed Life Story... all who knew him
