Obituary
Wilhelmina Cecelia Brown was born on October 15, 1937 in Miami, Florida to the late William Hepburn and Clotilda Brown.
Wilhelmina, better known as “Mena,” was one of 9 children who all preceded her in death with the exception of her sister, Patsy Palmer.
Wilhelmina was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1955. She furthered her education at Miami-Dade College. Wilhelmina spend 34 years working for Miami-Dade County Public Schools as an Educator at Hialeah Elementary School.
Wilhelmina was married to her late husband Woodrow Brown for 65 years. They were blessed with 5 children, one preceded her in death, Darrell Keith Brown Sr. Wilhelmina was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her church, children and family.
Wilhelmina was a pioneer member of Temple Missionary Baptist Church of Miami, Florida, where she was baptized at age 16. She was a part of several ministries including the Gospel Choir, Senior Usher Board, President of Senior Saints Ministry, Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Board and Church Secretary for 40 years. She was also an avid member of the Atlantic Coast Baptist Association, where she served as secretary for many years.
Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
She leaves to mourn four devoted children: sons, Dwayne Brown Sr. (Eula); Douglas Brown (Sheila); Darwin “Bae-Bae” Brown and her only daughter, Dionna Brown; sister Patsy Palmer; five grandchildren: Darrell Keith Brown Jr., Octavia McNichols, Dwayne Brown Jr., Angelo McNichols (Ebony), Shamone Tyson (Sikeya), three best friends: Sybil Johnson, Delores Miller and Norma Jean Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren, family and friends.
