Obituary
Wilhelmina Josie Cotton Victor was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 19, 1933, to Willie L. and Georgia Lou Cotton. As a youth she enjoyed participating in competitive activities and sports. She also loved singing in the church choir and had a profound dedication to serving and spreading the Word of God, as everyone has heard her angelic voice.
She was affectionately called Mina by her family, friends, and neighbors. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Caring for others was at the heart of everything she did. From being a fierce protector and devoted sister to her four brothers, to lovingly raising her children, grandchildren, and other close family members, she cared for all with unwavering strength and gave selflessly and loved deeply throughout her life's journey.
Her love and care for others extended far beyond her family and friends. Mina worked in the field of nursing for over 22 years at Palm Springs Hospital, dedicated and driven to give the best care to those in need.
Mina's favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because she loved bringing her family and friends together. Showing her affection through cooking during this special time brought her immense joy and filled her with contentment.
She loved God above all else and devoted her life to following His will. She encouraged everyone she knew to seek a personal relationship with Him and to live in accordance with His Word.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert Victor, brothers Lawrence U. Hargrett Sr., Thomas E. Hargrett Sr., Clarence Hargrett Sr., and his Jr., her daughter Georgia Lee Byrd, and grandson Tyrone Wright Sr.
She leaves behind her brother James Cotton (Diane); her children Herbert U. Victor (Betty), and Wilhelmina V. Carter; her grandchildren, William Cotton, Sr., Dana Byrd, Nathaniel Thompson III, Angela Michuard (Joseph), Herbert Victor Jr., Ramona Victor, Tyrone Wright, Jr. (caregiver), Ramonia Victor, Angel Russell; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces nephews, cousins and sorrowful friends.
II Corinthians 5:1,2 - “For we know that if our earthly house, tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands.”
