Obituary
Mr. Willie Burnett, born August 29, 1935, in Marion, Alabama, entered into peaceful rest on September 2, 2026. He was born to the late Willie Burnett and Alaine Clark. A devoted husband of 71 years, he was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and pillar of strength. He lived a long and joyful life surrounded by family he loved and cherished.
Raised in Marion, Alabama, Willie attended Lincoln High School but had to stop attending school to help his parents out. Those values helped mold him to be a hardworker, loyal, and have a deep love for his family.
On December 26, 1955, he married his childhood sweetheart, Pinkie Lou Herrod, in Meridian, Mississippi. A few days later they moved to Miami, Florida where he worked for Pantry Pride and Winn Dixie until he retired. They built a home rooted in love, faith, and dedication. Together they raised six children.
Willie leaves behind his beloved wife, Pinkie Lou Burnett; their six children, four sons, Melvin Burnett (Anjetta Buggs), Willie Harry Burnett (Lesonia Adams - deceased), Michael Burnett, and Gerry Burnett, and two daughters, Cora Hilton (Tyrone Hilton) and Elaine Joyce Burnett (deceased); one living brother in New York, Thomas Burnett; seven deceased brothers, Jackson Burnett, Charlie Wilson (Betty), Eddie Burnett (Rose Marie), Jessie Clark (Sally), Carl Edwards Clark, Benjamin Wilson, and Willie Clark (Annie); two living sisters, Emma Lou Burnett of Alabama and Ida Burnett-Beauford (Earl) of New York; seventeen grandchildren, Melvin Rayshard Burnett, Eric Burnett, Kalaunda Janae Hilton, Schekena Arcola Burnett, Tyrone Eugene Hilton, Jr., Latoya Schereka Burnett, Kriby Mimi Wilson, Eugene Marquis Hilton, Brittany Acacia Burnett, Whitney Yvonne Burnett, Joshua Thomas Burnett, Corteona Tyneisha Hilton, Amber Pinkie Burnett, Michael Brandon Burnett, Keshawnna Aniya Burnett, Sade Danielle Rose, and Robert Rose, Jr.; and ten great-grandchildren, Zaria Jayla Warren, Destiny Hiton, Eugene Marquis Hilton, Jr., Braylen Burnett, Ty Maurice Hilton, Xavier Alphonso Warren, Jr., Eugenia Emma Hilton, Zanai Chanel Warren, Sariya Trinity Williams, and Elaina Joy Anderson.
His legacy is in their hearts. His life was a blessing from God to have here with us for 91 years. His memory is a treasure and his love a gift that will continue to guide his family and friends for generations.
As a family we celebrate a man who lived a long blessed life, loved his family, gave generously, and walked through life with grace. A life well lived, a legacy of love and a family forever blessed by his presence!!
