Obituary
God dispatched Yolanda Leanner Jackson-Allen from heaven on August 19, 1962, making her debut on Mother Earth to her proud parents, Betty Lamb Jackson and Leonard Jackson. She was the second of three children, preceded in death by her beloved older brother, Kevin Lorenzo Jackson, and her father-in-law, Thomas Allen, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her loving mother, Mrs. Betty Morrell, and her devoted father, Leonard Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memories: her younger brother, Craig Jerod Jackson.
Yolanda’s life was rooted in faith, love, and a pursuit of purpose. She received her education from Miami Carol City Senior High School and continued her academic journey at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU—Home of the Rattlers), where she earned her B.S. in Office Management in the School of Business. With a heart for learning and a spirit of excellence, she carried the wisdom of Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom,” allowing her knowledge and faith to guide her life’s path.
On April 29, 1992, Yolanda was blessed with one of her life’s most treasured gifts—the birth of her beautiful daughter, Kyra Roberta Carter. Kyra was the joy of her heart, deeply loved and dearly cherished, a bond ordained by God and strengthened through unconditional love.
On March 3, 2022, in His infinite wisdom, God sent His angels to escort Kyra back into His heavenly presence. Though the loss was profound, Yolanda remained steadfast in her faith, holding on to the promise that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8). She found peace in knowing her daughter rests in eternal glory.
Yolanda was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, and friend whose life beautifully reflected love, faith, and grace. Her presence was a blessing, leaving a lasting and heartfelt impression on all who were privileged to know her.
On February 14, 2021, after 17 years of enduring love and divine timing, Yolanda united in holy matrimony with her middle school sweetheart, Kevin (“Goodie”) Allen. Their union was a beautiful testament to a love rooted in friendship and sustained by faith, as Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one.” In the sacred covenant of their marriage, Kevin faithfully exemplified the Word of God as her primary caregiver, steadfastly honoring the call of Scripture: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it,” (Ephesians 5:25), caring for her tenderly and faithfully until God called her home.
From this union, heaven once again released a precious gift—their beloved son, Kazon Lorenzo Allen. As written in Psalm 127:3, “Children are a heritage from the Lord,” and Kazon stands as a living expression of their love, a source of joy, and a continuation of Yolanda’s legacy. In honor of his mother’s enduring influence, Kazon continues to carry her legacy forward and will graduate on May 2, 2026, from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), a tribute to her life, her love, and her unwavering belief in the power of education.
Yolanda was a devoted child of God who served faithfully at Holy Temple Baptist Church in Opa-Locka, Florida, where she humbly labored as a member of the Usher Board, greeting all with warmth, grace, and the love of Christ. She also leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sisters-in-love, Janice Taylor of Douglasville, Georgia, and Evangelist Dr. Phar’is Darlene Allen (Clyde) of Columbus, Georgia, along with one brother-in-love, Thomas Allen. In addition, she leaves to cherish her enduring love: a host of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as her bonus sons and daughters, whom she was blessed to receive through her union with her husband, Kevin. She is also cherished by her Mother-In-Love, Josephine R. Allen. Together with a host of cousins, family, extended family, and dear friends, they will continue to carry forward her legacy of faith, love, and unity, forever reflecting the light she so graciously shared.
Yolanda’s journey on this earth was marked by love, perseverance, and divine purpose. Her life was a testimony of faith, and her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
