Obituary

YVONNE JOHNSON was born on August 24, 1947, to her beloved parents, Samuel Lee and Elizabeth Smith. At an early age her mother relocated her and her brother to Winter Park, Florida, where she was baptized by the Reverend Willie Sims, Jr., at the age of 12 at Bethel Baptist Church. She joined the junior choir, taught Sunday School, and became secretary of the Sunday School.
Yvonne attended Hannibal Elementary and graduated with the class of 1965 from Hungerford High School. She furthered her education at Cortez Peters Business College in Washington, DC, where she met and married her husband, the late Earl A. Johnson. From this union came their beautiful baby girl, Stephanie M. Johnson. She later moved to Miami, Florida where she retired from Bellsouth Telecommunications with 30 years of service as an engineering clerk.
In 1991, Yvonne joined Mt. Hermon AME Church under the leadership of Pastor C.E. Jenkins. She became a member of the CEJ Inspirational Singers as well as the vice president of Choir #1. She faithfully served as class leader and a member of the music counsel committee.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Lee and Elizabeth Smith; brother, Raymond Smith; and a special aunt and uncle, Rochelle and Otis Edwards.
She leaves to mourn and celebrate her love: her daughters, Stephanie Johnson and Kellie Grissom; grandchildren, Irvin and Keir Johnson, Demetrius, Brittany, and Torre Grissom; great-grandson, Irvin Johnson; her friend until the end, Miss Ruby; and a host of other friends and family.
