Obituary

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, God quietly summoned Brother Roosevelt “Kojak” Arnold, Sr. from labor to reward. Surrounded by cherished memories and the love of family, he peacefully entered eternal rest at the remarkable age of 79 years old.

Roosevelt Arnold, affectionately known throughout the community as “Kojak,” was born on August 1, 1946, in Monticello, Florida, to the late Mr. Edmond and Mrs. Rebecca Noble Arnold. He was a man of strength, wisdom, humility, and unwavering love for his family and community.

Kojak attended the Madison County Public School System and later dedicated many years of faithful service to the City of Madison before retiring from the Sanitation Department. He was known as a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and lending a helping hand whenever he could.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Kojak found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether fishing, hunting, gardening, or tending to his yard, he found peace in nature and fulfillment in honest work. He especially enjoyed caring for his beloved dogs and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Wherever Kojak was present, laughter, wisdom, and storytelling were never far behind.

Above all, Kojak was a devoted family man. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and cherished every opportunity to pour wisdom, encouragement, and love into their lives. His presence was steady, his advice sincere, and his heart generous. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, faith, hard work, and unconditional love that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.

Brother Kojak accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and remained a man who believed in the power of faith, prayer, and perseverance. Though his earthly journey has ended, his life and legacy will forever remain etched in the hearts of those blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Edmond and Mrs. Rebecca Noble Arnold; and his beloved daughter, Marilyn Arnold.

Cherishing his precious memories are his devoted children: Roosevelt Arnold, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida; Rosalind Arnold of Lake City, Florida; Jenny (Tremaine) Arnold of Madison, Florida; and Olivia Arnold of Greenville, Florida. He also leaves to treasure his memory his siblings: Arnold of Monticello, Florida; Joseph Arnold of Tampa, Florida; Fannie Arnold of Greenville, Florida; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and love.

Though he has departed from this earthly life, the legacy of Roosevelt “Kojak” Arnold, Sr. will continue to shine brightly through the lives he impacted and the love he so freely gave.
