Obituary

Clayton Wilson, the son of Roscoe Wilson and Rutha Mae Wilson, was born on September 15, 1955. He began his life journey in the Lovett community of Greenville, Florida. Years later, the family relocated to Madison, Florida where he lived until he became a resident of Largo, Florida.

Preceding Clayton in death were both parents, and siblings: Steve Wilson, Roscoe Wilson, Kenneth Wilson, Melvin Wilson, Emily Wilson, and Florence Wilson.

Clayton’s parents urged their children to have a relationship with the Lord. Earlier in life Clayton felt compelled to accept Christ as his Redeemer and joined New Mt. Zion Baptist Church family of Madison.

Clayton’s parents also impressed upon them the importance of acquiring an education. He also accomplished this goal by graduating from Madison High School in the Class of 1973.

Instead of furthering his education after high school, Clayton chose to begin employment and worked for many years at Dixie Packers, followed by the Madison County Road Department and several other part-time job positions. He was one who was committed to doing his best.

Likewise, Clayton enjoyed his time away from the job because it was his time to work on cars or to watch his favorite syndicated television shows. Among them were his westerns: Gunsmoke, Rawhide, The Rifle Man, and Bonanza; action movies: the Indiana Jones series; and sit-coms from the past: Good Times, The Jeffersons, and All in the family.

Clayton was quiet-natured, caring and concerned. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. He especially enjoyed his role as granddaddy and looked forward to the good times they spent together.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. On Thursday, December 7, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom chose Clayton Wilson to cross from this walk of life to join the heavenly host.
He is gone from his loved ones’ sight but never from their hearts.

While grief is the price that is paid for love, comfort comes in knowing that when you lose someone you love, you gain an angel you know. Cherishing Clayton Wilson’s life, love, and legacy are his children: Lakeshia (Wilson) Manor and Franky Wilson, both of Fountain Inn, SC; brothers: Jimmie (Sandra) Wilson of Plainfield, NJ; Dean (Lillie Mae) Wilson of Orlando, FL, and Bennie (Delores) Wilson of Jasper, FL; sisters: Irish Wilson and Catherine Johnson, both of Largo, FL, and Vivian Wilson of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren: Jaslyn Bowens, Alana Manor, and Jaceyon Manor, all of Fountain Inn, SC; an aunt: Dollie Mae Brown of Jacksonville, FL; close friend: Lucille Wilson; along with many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
