Obituary

“Some glad morning when this life is over, I’ll fly away to a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away”
A lifelong resident of Greenville, Florida, Mother Dorothy Mae Epps-Roberson was the loving baby daughter born on May 5th, 1942, to J.T. Roberson and Lillie Mae Simmons Roberson. She was affectionately called “KK” by her family and friends.
Preceding MOTHER EPPS-ROBERSON in death were both parents; husband: John Hardrick; son: Samuel Epps; daughter: Montollis Roberson; and brothers: Johnny T. Roberson and James Roberson.
During her early years, Mother Epps began her Christian experience by attending church services at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. However, she did not feel complete until she accepted Christ in her life and began her Christian mission. She enjoyed patiently teaching young children and getting involved in other activities of the church but being on the culinary committee was her genuine delight.
MOTHER EPPS-ROBERSON combined her love for others and her desire to help those who were not able to do for themselves. She was an independent Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) whose services were always welcome by her patients and their families. She also volunteered at local daycare centers teaching the little ones how to read.
MOTHER EPPS-ROBERSON was a believer who leaned on His everlasting arms, and she refused to abandon her faith. Instead, she chose to use each test as her personal testimony of faith. She was steadfast in thankfulness for His grace and His mercy.
As the family Matriarch who imparted godly wisdom, Mother Epps-Roberson enjoyed pampering her grandchildren and great- grandchildren as only a loving grandmother can do. She welcomed her nieces and nephews whenever they came for visits, for they all looked forward to the food, fellowship, and fun times they shared. She prayed with them and for them and their well-being, encouraged their continued progress and successes, and stressed the importance of education.
However, at the end of each busy day, MOTHER EPPS-ROBERSON looked forward to relaxing on her front porch where she enjoyed the view. She kept her mind actively engaged by solving crossword puzzles, reading and/or writing poetry.
Goodbyes hurt the most when a loved one’s chapter was not finished. On December 28, 2022, MOTHER DOROTHY MAE EPPSROBERSON finished her last chapter in time only to begin her first chapter in eternity.
It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember. Those whose hearts were blessed with MOTHER DOROTHY MAE EPPS-ROBERSON life, her laughter, and her love are her grandchildren: Rashake (Judy) Ware of Greenville, FL, Rasharn Ware of Savannah, GA, Dr. Shamarial Roberson of Tallahassee, FL, Shadrick Bradley of Greenville, FL; brother: Willie Roberson of Lake Wales, FL; sister-in-law: Willie B. Roberson of St. Petersburg, FL; six great-grandchildren; and many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
