Obituary
Edgar Lewis Thomas, Jr., brought great joy to his parents, Edgar Lewis Thomas, Sr. and Johnnie Mae Kirkland Thomas, when he arrived into the world on June 10, 1965, in Perry, Florida. His life was the result of many caring members of his village – home, church, school, and community; all who impressed upon him the importance of having integrity as well as a work ethic, being a positive influence, and making his mark on the world. He was a lifelong resident of Madison, Florida.
Loved ones who preceded Edgar Jr. in death were both of his parents, his son: Thaddeus Thomas, and his brother: Ronald Thomas.
Edgar confessed his belief in Jesus Christ, was baptized by faith, and became a member of Architillery Baptist Church in Cherry Lake, Florida.
On June 17, 1988, Edgar and Veronica Michelle Tillman were united in Holy Matrimony. They were later blessed with three children, but only “TJ” and Carisa reached adulthood. Edgar and Veronica were looking forward to celebrating their 35th anniversary together but God had another plan for him.
Edgar received his formal education from Madison County Public School System. However, after graduating, he opted to launch his 40-year career path of untiring service at Gold Kist/Pilgrim’s Pride. He began his employment at entry level, worked his way to supervisory positions, and ultimately ended his career in Management. He was a kindhearted, a down to earth, a one-of-a-kind leader whose dedication, hard work and Christian example were evidence that these qualities alone warrant great rewards.
In his leisure, Edgar enjoyed riding his motorcycle, listening to music, and playing the lottery. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family, especially the outdoor activities with his grandchildren.
Because of his good nature, he humbly answered to many names from various individuals - “Boss Man”, “Lil Ed”, “Brother-in-law”, as well as “Big Dogg”. Edgar left a lasting impression of his forever love for his family, friends, employees, and colleagues.
On Sunday, June 11, 2023, Edgar Lewis Thomas, Jr. departed this earthly life and transitioned to his eternal home where his soul is now resting in the presence of the Lord.
Edgar Lewis Thomas, Jr. is gone from their sight but never from their hearts. Cherishing the precious memories of his most amazing life are his loving and devoted wife of nearly 35 years: Veronica Michelle Tillman Thomas; son: Edgar Lewis “TJ” Thomas III; daughter: Carisa Michelle (Jose) Gutierrez; sisters: Dorothy (Melvin) Johnson and Rhonda (Mark) Newsome; brothers: Gerry (Kesha) Loveday, Sr., Kerry (Talisha) Loveday, Sr., Antaun (Sharon) Siplin, and Edgar P. (Sophia) Thomas, Sr.; sisters-in-law: Dierdre Thomas and Phyllis (Larcedious) Jones; brothers-in-law: Ivory (Marva) Tillman, Jackie (Mary) Tillman, Otto (Janice) Tillman, Albert (Naomi) Tillman, and Bernard (Theresea) Turner; special uncles: Joe Willie Thomas and Burton Moore; aunts: Annie (Bruce) Cheevers, Mattie (Michael) Williams, and Nadine Lee; grandchildren: Jaquan Thomas, Trevione Curry, Kaveon Thomas, JaKayvia Thomas, Elijah Thomas, Edgar Thomas IV; and loved as a granddaughter: Brayden Livingston; along with countless other compassionate relatives and sorrowing friends.
