Obituary

Gerald Leroy Alexander, Sr. was the beloved son of Tommie Lee Alexander and Ida Mae Ware Alexander. Born on September 1, 1969, he grew up in the Cherry Lake community of Madison, Florida, and remained a lifelong resident in the area.

Earlier in his life, Gerald accepted Christ as his Savior and joined the fellowship of believers. He loved God and lived his life as evidence of God’s love for all.

Gerald was also given the names “Hulk” and “Papa Swole” by individuals in his family and friendship circles. He was known for his irresistible smile, being good-natured, sociable, fun-loving, humorous, and friendly. He unconditionally loved his family and always took time to lend them a helping hand. He was outgoing and the life of the party. Because of his lively presence and his sense of humor, he could be counted on to liven up family gatherings by making them fun and entertaining.

Gerald was educated in the Madison County School District. Afterwards, he opted to begin his career in employment. However, when the opportunity became available, he took a leap of faith and actively pursued his dream of driving eighteen wheelers. He made the necessary preparations and successfully began his long-distance truck driving career for Home Depot.

While he loved working his dream job, Gerald equally enjoyed life itself. He also cherished his relaxing time away from road travel. During his pastime, he appreciated being able to work on cars/vehicles, listen to music, dance, and work out by lifting weights. This enabled him to feel refreshed, renewed, and prepared for his next road assignment(s).

Gerald Leroy Alexander, Sr.’s eighteen-wheeler was silenced; his eternal destination assignment and his certificate of (blessed) assurance were given by the Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 20, 2025. In the blink of an eye, He dispatched an angel to Gerald’s bedside, and he now rests in the presence and everlasting love of the Lord. He has been signed off forever, “Over and out.”

The loved ones of Gerald Leroy Alexander, Sr. will always remember his lively personality and his witty sense of humor but will forever miss his presence with family and friends and at family gatherings. He is gone from their sight but will never depart from their hearts. Among those to dearly miss him are his mother: Ida Mae Ware Alexander of Madison, FL, son: Gerald Leroy Alexander, Jr. of Madison, FL; daughters: Dy’Meshia Speshail Newsome of Columbus, GA, and Kirsten Alexander of Madison, FL; brothers: Tommie Lee Alexander, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Melvin (Kimberley) Alexander of Madison, FL; sisters: Tiniki (Travis) Haynes of Madison, FL and Levonda Alexander of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren: Ah’mee Alexander, Ezekiel Caldwell, Pierce Newsome; along with a host of other sorrowing relatives and consoling friends.

Preceding Gerald Leroy Alexander, Sr. in death were his father, Tommie Lee Alexander, Sr. and his brother, Vincent Alexander.
