Obituary
John Jamaal Jackson was born in Thomasville, Georgia, on April 29, 1979, to his proud parents, Joe Jackson, Jr. and Wilhemenia Powell Jackson. Fondly referred to as “Nuke” by his family and friends, he was a lifelong resident of Madison County, Florida.
John’s loving personality reflected in everything he did. He was known for his calmness in spirit and his generosity. He did not allow stresses in life get the best of him. He showed that regardless of how tense a situation was, he managed it rationally by remaining cool, calm, and collected. His other standout quality was his generosity. He was taught to share without expecting to get anything in return. For this reason, he freely shared his blessings with others. He soon learned that the more he shared, the more he was blessed in return. Nuke also allowed his personality to reflect in the way he dressed. He enjoyed shopping for clothing that made him look good. He realized that looking good made him feel good; to feel good boosted his confidence and uplifted his spirit.
John loved the Lord and accepted Him as his personal Savior earlier in life. He was baptized and welcomed into the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church family.
Nuke cherished his family. His unwavering love for them, particularly his children, was noticeable in the pride he had when being with them or affectionately speaking of them. He looked forward to their family gatherings during the holidays or any other occasion when they got together to create generational memories. During their fellowship, they fondly talked about good times of the past. The fun they had sharing on these occasions was typically highlighted with rounds of laughter. However, everyone looked forward to enjoying the delicious “all you can eat” dishes that were lovingly prepared.
Some of John’s pastime interests included his enthusiasm for sports. He was an avid football fan of the Las Vegas Raiders, but he loved to watch other teams as well. During the long days of summer, he looked forward to watching baseball on television. However, Nuke also found peace and appreciation for being outdoors. He had a green thumb for planting his seasonal gardens and sharing his produce with family and friends.
There were many other occasions that John Jamaal Jackson and his loved ones were expecting to share, but God had predetermined another plan for his life. He chose Saturday, June 7, 2025, for John to depart this earthly life and transition to his eternal home.
It is incredibly hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember and appreciate. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Loved ones who will miss John Jamaal Jackson until they meet again are his father: Joe (Ute) Jackson, Jr. of Vidalia, GA; companion: Derrica West of Madison, FL; sons: Ja’Ohn Jackson of Madison, FL, J’Nariez Miller of Greenville, FL, and Jalen Jackson of Madison, FL; daughters: Johnasia Jackson of Greenville, FL, Joh’Nerrica Jackson and Jah’Lani Jackson, both of Madison, FL; brothers: Joseph (Natalie) Jackson of Madison, FL, Joe (Dominique) Jackson III of Greenville, FL, and Zachary Jones-Gilbert of Arizona; Sisters: Shaquitha (Bryan) Whitfield of Clyattville, GA and Bonita Jones of Statesville, GA; special aunts: Sarah Lott and Carolyn Manor; goddaughter: Chaniyah Thompson; along with countless other sorrowing relatives and comforting friends. John is gone from their sight but never from their hearts.
John Jamaal Jackson’s mother, Wilhemenia Powell Jackson preceded him in death.
