There are some lives that are remembered not simply by the years they lived, but by the love they gave, the joy they shared, and the light they brought into the lives of others. Latrice Shawndrell Tyson-Debique was one of those lives.
Born on May 20, 1975, in Quincy, Florida, to the now-late Lawrence Tyson and Mary Showers, Latrice was a woman whose caring heart, charismatic spirit, and beautiful smile made her presence unforgettable. She had a way of enjoying life and reminding those around her to do the same. Latrice loved “good” times—moments filled with laughter, family, fellowship, and the people who made life special.
Family was at the heart of who Latrice was. She treasured cookouts, family reunions, and opportunities to gather with those she loved. She understood that some of life’s greatest blessings are found in ordinary moments shared with family. In the latter years of her life, Latrice became especially devoted to her grandchildren and to her own journey of personal growth. She embraced the opportunity to become more intentional about herself, her family, and the life she was creating.
Latrice also had a natural love for fashion and beauty. She enjoyed dressing up, looking her best, and trying new hairstyles. Her sense of style was an extension of her personality—confident, expressive, and uniquely Latrice. She knew how to make an entrance, but it was her warmth and personality that people remembered long after she left the room.
And then there was her smile.
For those who knew Latrice, her smile said so much. It carried her joy, her personality, and her ability to find happiness in the moments life gave her. Latrice leaves a beautiful legacy of love to her children, Christian Debique, Rocceis Robinson, Brandon Debique, and Kyree Debique; her mother, Mary Showers; her siblings, Kianni Brewer, Aeriel Showers, Tadrik Showers, Lawrence Tyson, Jr., and Deandre Showers; her grandchildren; and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Her family will remember her in the colors she loved, the beauty of calla lilies, the laughter shared at family gatherings, the confidence she carried in her fashion, and the countless memories created along the way.
Although her earthly journey has come to an end, Latrice’s story does not end here. Love does not cease when life does. The woman she was, the memories she created, and the love she poured into her family will continue through every life she touched.
