Obituary
Lillie Pridgeon Alexander, the daughter of Frank Wilson and Louise Brown Pridgeon, was born on August 24, 1961. To her family and friends, she was affectionately known as “Lillie Ruth”. She was a lifelong resident of Madison, Florida.
Preceding Lillie Ruth in death were both of her parents and three siblings: Sammy Pridgeon, Geraldine Turner, and Ethelene Pridgeon.
Lillie Ruth accepted Christ and was baptized by faith many years ago. She was a member of Greater Community Baptist Church where she was dutiful in her service and her praise. As she matured in faith, her soul became anchored in the Lord.
Described as a people person and one who created more beauty in the world through her fondness for them, Lillie Ruth loved spending time with family and enjoyed talking to friends. In doing so, she inspired hope and provided encouragement as well as godly wisdom and sound advice. Most of all, Lillie Ruth could be counted on to give a helping hand and a willing heart.
For her pastime enjoyment, Lillie Ruth enjoyed fishing and using her “green thumb” to grow flowers and plants. However, when she settled down, she looked forward to watching Gunsmoke, her favorite western from the past, and Paula Dean Cooking shows for creative recipes and inspiration.
On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, while Lillie Pridgeon Alexander was surrounded by members of her family, she gently transitioned from labor to reward. She is gone from their sight, but never from their hearts.
“It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you; the day God took you home.” Loved ones who will cherish her loving memory are her loving and devoted husband of 31 years: Leroy Alexander of Madison, FL; son: Marcus (Felandria) Smith of Madison, FL; daughters: Dewana Pridgeon and Jessica Alexander, both of Madison, FL; brothers: Jerry Frank (Diane) Pridgeon of Madison, FL , Johnny Frank Pridgeon of West Point, MS, and Eddie Lee Willson of Niagara Falls, NY; sisters: Cassandra Pridgeon of Madison, FL, Dorothy McCleod of Opalapka, AL, and Affie Gilyard of Miami, FL; brothers-in-law: Jimmie (Reffeletia) Alexander and Pastor Jerry (Merelda) Alexander, David Alexander and Gary Alexander, all of Madison, FL, Rev. Bruce (Harnitha) Alexander of Richmond Hils, GA, and Michael (Dr. Nicoletta) Alexander of Cape Coral, FL; Sister-in-law: Teresa Alexander of Madison, FL; seven grandchildren, as well as countless other sorrowing relatives and compassionate friends.
