Obituary

Marcus Aurelius Lemon was born October 16, 1969, in Daytona Beach, Florida to Jacqueline Hart Lemon and the Late Presiding Elder F. Bernard Lemon.
He grew up in Leesburg, Florida and graduated from Leesburg High School, Class of 1987.  He attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Tallahassee, Florida.
Marcus was reared in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church.  He attended the various churches his father pastored but was baptized and grew up in St. Stephen A.M.E. Church, Leesburg, Florida, where as a youth he was active in the Young People’s and Children Division (YPD) and youth choir.  During his college years, he fellowshipped at Fountain Chapel A.M.E. Church.  In 2004, he joined New Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Tallahassee, Florida.
Marcus worked in several cities and for various companies in sales and management.  He is best remembered as a store manager for Heilig-Meyers Furniture Company and First American Cash Advance.
While working in Tallahassee, he met the former Ramona Branton.  During a business conference in Las Vegas, Marcus popped the question at a Toni Braxton concert. The couple married on August 18, 2007, and shared over 18 years of marriage until his passing.  They are the parents of two children, Deonte Adams and Londyn Lemon.
Marcus loved sports.  He was an avid baseball player and fan.  He played from Pee Wee League through High School. He was also a Jacksonville Jaguar fan.  He was dressed in Jag gear for every game, the ultimate good luck charm for his favorite team.  Marcus also loved to fish and swim and will be remembered for his “cannonballs.”
Marcus had a great love for music including old school R&B, hip hop, and gospel. He played drums and participated in the band from junior high school through high school.
Marcus was quiet and laidback but could always make you laugh with a joke or facial expression.  The family often joked he could make you laugh just by opening his mouth.
Marcus made his final transition on March 3, 2026, after a lengthy illness and cancer battle.  He will be forever missed by those who loved him the most.
He was preceded in death by his father, Presiding Elder F. Bernard Lemon; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Audrey Hart; his paternal grandparents, William and Thelma Kelley; brother, Michael Lemon; Aunts and Uncles, Jeffie Lee Malone, Annie L. King, Samuel Lemon, Willie James Lemon, Kathleen Barge; and cousin, Trevor Hart.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Lemon; son, Deonte Adams; daughter, Londyn Lemon; mother, Jacqueline Lemon; mother-in-law, Ruby Lee Paul; bonus mother, Laurastine Lemon-King (Rev. Richard King); father-in-law, Jerome James; siblings, Tonja Lemon Webb (Kevin), Anita Lemon, Ryan Lemon, Michele Murphy, and Bridget Giles (Terry); sisters-and brothers-in law: Margaret Ardley, Marshall Smiley, Margie Davis, Lee Ann Ardley, Kendra Ardley, Audrey Williams, Valerie Davis, Jeannette James, Latweeta Gardner (Harbrige), Herman James (TaWandra), Dennis Ardley and Christopher James; aunts and uncles, Dr. Roland Hart (Gale), Anne Hart, Hattie Paul, Sandra Paul, Mary Lambert, Emma Brown, Robert Paul (Shirley), Frank Paul, Wennifer Paul (Diann), Eddie Paul, Lorenzo Whitehead (Elaine) and William Whitehead (Althea); nieces and nephews, Jalen and Jordyn Webb; Dominque Brooks-Nevlous (Charles), JaKaren Hughes and Trace Giles; cousins, Sarina Hart, Helena Rathbun (Dan), Kevin Hart, Margaret Harris (Richard), Hiram Malone, Michael King, Angela Braddy, Levrina Lemon, Lajuana Lemon, Joy Lemon, Deborah Briatte,  Demetrius Lemon (Rainell), John Wages, and Greg Wages; godchildren, Ka’Mari DeLeslin,  Shakirah McDuffie, and Patrick  “P.J.” Gilyard, Jr.; lifelong friends, Martinis McDuffie, Dale DeLeslin, and Mike Barker; bonus family, Robert Dunston and the Dunston Family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He will surely be missed by his walking companion and man’s best friend, Princess, the family pet.
