Obituary
Naomi Olivia Delaughter Anderson, the daughter of Albert Delaughter and Roberta Hudson Delaughter, was born August 3, 1936, in Madison, Florida. She was the fifth child out of her six sisters and two brothers. She was a resident of Madison, Florida.
Preceding Naomi in death were both parents; her husband, Willie James Anderson; daughter, Sylvia Anderson Lowe; and siblings, Catherine Brown, Ezell Tookes, Reverend James Delaughter, Martha Hervey, and Dorthenia McCloud; grandchild: Rachelle Lowe; and great-grandchild: Waymon Dixon, II.
To be better prepared for her future endeavors, Naomi received her formal education from concerned teachers at Madison County Training School (one of Madison County’s all-black public schools) and graduated in the Class of 1955. Seeking better opportunities for a successful life, she and her high school sweetheart, Willie James Anderson, relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1956 and were married in Georgia. The Lord blessed them with a rewarding life together and two wonderful children - Kenneth and Sylvia. Years later, the blessings continued with five beautiful grandchildren, followed by seven awesome great-grandchildren.
Naomi was a 27-year dedicated employee for the Swishers Company. However, having opted for her early retirement, she relocated to her hometown. Willie James worked a few more years before he also retired.
Naomi had unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. At an early age, she accepted Him as her Redeemer and Resurrected Savior at Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church. However, as time progressed, she developed a more personal relationship with the Lord and was baptized. She joined Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ. She was a servant leader who joyfully rendered her service for the glory of God and not the recognition of man. She served as an usher and Sunday School teacher there. Upon her return to Madison, she joined Magnolia Church of God in Unity, and for many years, she devoted her tireless service as a missionary and Sunday School superintendent in a more excellent way, for she held these positions in the highest esteem.
Missionary Naomi Delaughter Anderson’s soul was anchored in the Lord. She lived to die only to live again. Therefore, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the twinkling of an eye, Naomi Delaughter Anderson crossed from this walk of life to live eternally with the Lord. “Well done, good and faithful servant…... Enter the joy of the Master.”
Faith allows the loved ones of Naomi Delaughter Anderson to know that they will one day meet again. She blessed their hearts with her life, her love, her wisdom, and her precious memories.
Forever cherishing these special remembrances are her son: Kenneth Anderson of Jacksonville, FL; siblings: Reverend David Delaughter of Madison, FL, Laverne Lamb of Tallahassee, FL, and Mary Frances Holloway of Vero Beach, FL; sisters-in-law: Betty Delaughter and Jeannette Latimer, both of Madison, FL, and Paris Ann (Marcus) Jones of Greenville, FL; and brother-in-law: George (Doretha) Anderson of Madison, FL; grandchildren: Felicia Anderson, Latasha Lowe, Kenshone Gaddis, and Devin Anderson, all of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren: Porscha (Ted) King, Brianna Major, Tenasia Lowe, Kaliyah Williams, all of Jacksonville, FL, along with many other great-grandchildren; special nephews: Charles Delaughter of Madison, FL and Lewis (Alena) Moore of Jacksonville, FL; a special cousin: Pauline Miller of Madison, FL; together with a host of other special cousins, loving nieces, caring nephews, and sorrowing friends.
