Obituary

“Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me” -John 14:1
Mother Plame Lee Collins, born June 17, 1928, was the daughter to John Walters and Rosa Lee Moore Hines. She lived most of her life in the Lovett community of Greenville, Florida.
Preceding her in death were both parents; her loving husband of more than 60 years, James “EJ” Collins; Sons: James Collins, Jr., and Henry Collins; daughters: Betty Jean Collins, Daisy (Deansey) Boose; brothers: Richard Walters, John Walters, Jr., and Edward Walters.
Earlier in her life, Mother Plame Lee accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and looked forward to fellowshipping with others. Because of her passion for cooking, she found much enjoyment in rendering service on the church’s culinary committee of exceptional cooks. Together, they prepared delicious meals for Homecoming, Pastor’s Anniversary, and other special events.
Mother Plame Lee was a godly mother who truly loved her family. She taught her children the importance of being respectful, working hard, and being successful in life. She encouraged their spirit by praising them whenever they made her proud, but she also admonished them whenever they needed reminders for self-improvement. However, if it dealt with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she allowed them to wrap her around their little fingers.
For the most part, Mother Plame Lee was a stay-at-home wife and mother who was dutiful in taking care of her family. However, she also did seasonal farm work- picking peaches, gathering vegetables, tobacco, cotton, and pecans. Likewise, she was a cook at the Pirate’s Hut Restaurant in Greenville. She enjoyed preparing menu items as a short order cook, but most of all, she also enjoyed working beside her neighbor, friend, and confidant, Ezell Moore.
During her later years, Mother Plame Lee Collins enjoyed crocheting, beading necklaces and jewelry, and quilting for her pastime enjoyment.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Mother Plame Lee Collins was called from labor to reward. She gently closed her eyes, transitioned from this life, and entered the glory of God. She is gone from sight but never from the hearts of all who loved her.
It is hard to forget someone who gave them so much to remember. Those who will forever cherish her life, love, and legacy are her devoted daughters: Darlene Collins of Jacksonville, FL, Frances Walker and Loretta Collins Redding, both of Greenville, FL; grandson, raised as a son: Lamar (Tonya) Wilson of Madison, Florida; sisters: Maggie Walters of Washington, DC and Minnie Walters of Madison, FL; step daughter: Nadine (Robert) Livingston of Greenville, FL; daughter-in-law: Patricia Collins of St. Petersburg, FL; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 23 great great-grandchildren; as well as a host of sorrowful relatives, loving friends, and dedicated healthcare providers.
