Obituary
Raleigh B Barfield, affectionately known as “Ralo,” was born on April 30, 1951, to Samuel Barfield and Charlie Johnson Barfield. They taught him the importance of being helpful, dependable, friendly, and respectful. For these reasons, he willingly helped others, especially the elderly, in need. He was a lifelong resident of the Georgetown community of Madison, Florida.
Having a relationship with God and getting an education were two requirements godly parents required of their children and Raleigh B was no exception. His spiritual foundation began with his faith walk at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. It was there that he accepted Christ as his Savior, was baptized by faith, and became a faithful member. Years later, he joined his family at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Likewise, he achieved his educational goal of graduating high school, and he did so at Madison High School.
Raleigh B was blessed to have had a variety of career options that fine-tuned his skills for other opportunities. He was a team player who gave a helping hand and a willing heart. He was first employed as a warehouse technician at Dixie Packers. However, he also developed other interests by working with roofing, plumbing, and small engine repair.
“Ralo” had a natural gift for being neat and keeping things organized. He devoted his leisure time to ensuring that things were done with excellence and to his satisfaction. He took care of household odd jobs, maintaining his vehicles, and the yard beautification / curb appeal. However, “Ralo” enjoyed settling down from a busy day to watch his team favorites, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the LA Lakers.
Raleigh B Barfield answered the Master’s call on Sunday, November 3, 2024, and quietly transitioned from his labor to rest eternally with the Lord. It is well with his soul.
Raleigh B Barfield’s fulfillment of purpose shall continue through his family, friends, and other lives he touched. His forever love is gone from their sight but never from their hearts. Those who will miss him until they meet again are his devoted wife (together 56 years and married 44 years): Annie Moore Barfield of Madison, FL; sons: Raleigh (Tonya) Barfield of Valdosta, GA and Brian (Temicko) Barfield of Tallahassee, FL ; daughter: LaGretta (Jerod) Barfield Jones of Tampa, FL; brothers: Rev.
