Obituary

Alex “Alrico”” PeeWee” Moss, Jr., was called to Glory on December 8, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Alex was born March 21, 1931-1933 the son of Jesse and Alex Moss Sr. in West Helena, Arkansas.
“PeeWee” (his childhood name) as close family & friends called him attended west Helena District Schools alongside his three older siblings, then he relocated to Alexis Arkansas, where furthered his education and pursued work.  He was a traveler; he traveled up north during the great migration. During the early 1950’s until the early 1980’s he was a Lady’s Man ( A True King Pimp). He lived in many different places before permanently relocating back to Chicago, IL in the mid 1970’s, but he remained a traveler.
He later met fell in love with & married Lorraine Kendall-Moss in Chicago, IL and they remained married for many years, and raised three children together, then divorced and still remained close friends, she preceded him in death.
He worked as a General Laborer, he also became a business owner of many businesses in many states in the prime years of his life he later worked for the Chicago Steel Mill, & more, he also became an educator in the Illinois correctional facility, he was always giving back to his people in any way he could, Alex was a helping hand and listening ear for those who were in need. He was a great support system. He had a Heart of gold & he stood on loyalty & principalities.
He lived many exciting lives throughout his long life and wore several hats, & was blessed enough to learn & grow from it & also pass down his great knowledge to countless others , here is a (insert from The Pimps Bible pages 50-55) a short chapter out of his long for filling life, “Alrico had a lucky number, which was the number 8 , because he had 8 hobbies , resting , dressing ,reading the funnies , counting the monies , golf , craps , getting the honey ,& going on shopping sprees “,…& even in his mature years he loved those things still, including playing the lottery, he loved the daily lottery & watching the news, just keeping up with the times as technology grew in age as did he , yet he was never a step behind , he kept up with the joneses , he was such a timeless intellectual figure.
Alex was very inquisitive , his love for numbers also lead him to create & master his own numerical system , in which he would share this with everyone he came in contact with through out his many years & also used this technique to help him guess the number order for the daily lotto he would catch every day on the Chicago news or his phone , he remained in bedded in his number method, Alex even gained his wings on the 8th day of December 2023 , his lucky-blessed number 8 , the number 8 biblical meaning is infinity, so your memories will live on through all of us infinitely for eternity our Dearest love.
Alex had a great sense of humor, but he was stern in what he believed in and stood for. Business & Family was always 1st! , he was a hard worker & a hustler & a God fearing Man but he was such a gentle giant ,a very compassionate and humble soul , Alrico was a sharp dresser, “He was a very Dapper handsome man.” Alex , was a connoisseur of fine Jewelry, 3 piece classics suits, hats ,alligator leather dress shoes,& customized walking sticks, that went along side his elegant grace & outgoing personality. Ask anybody about his attire & they will say the same , Alrico was a truly a Marvel in any place or room he stepped in.
He had a very Sharp mind before his sickness began to overcome him. He enjoyed the finer things in life, in his earlier years and in his later years he enjoyed and cherished family values more than anything else. While living in Chicago, IL, Alex gave his life to Christ and was a member of First Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Albert Simmons in Chicago, IL in the Woodlawn community. He was a lifetime member of the church even when he relocated to Springfield, IL, he remained anchored in his faith.
When he relocated, he moved with his Honorary caretaker/daughter in Christ Cammise Tubbs-Simms and her husband Richard Simms Jr. (Of Chicago IL) and their family where he was truly loved and happy. He moved to Springfield in 2019 and spent the last four years rekindling with his family and receiving additional love and
