Obituary
Brenda Ann (Rice) Jackson, 63, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away at Springfield Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 29, 2024. Born on February 1, 1961, in Springfield, she was the daughter of J.D. and Allie B. Rice in Springfield, IL.
A beloved figure in her community, Brenda was revered as the neighborhood “Auntie,” always ready to lend a helping hand or share a hearty laugh. She attended Lanphier High School and spent her career in the hospitality and healthcare industries, where she made lasting impacts with her indomitable spirit and no-nonsense attitude.
Brenda’s passion for gardening left a legacy of beauty, and she was often referred to as the family’s green thumb, excelling in botanical care.
She was preceded in death by her parents; J.D. and Allie B. Rice and brother, Steven Rice.
She is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Jackson, Sr., whom she married in a beautiful ceremony that marked a chapter in their lifelong partnership. She leaves behind a devoted daughter, Renetta Rice of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren: Jyles, Teyona, Jaden, and Jaleah Beard, and Yazmin; two great-grandchildren: Tyon and Taylin Davis; and her cherished bonus children: Corey, Nikki, Tasha, Bobby, Cortez, and Arthur Jackson, Jr.; and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.
Brenda will also be fondly remembered by her siblings Jimmy Rice II, Tony Pearson, Herbert Rice (Andrea), Reba Love, Alice Venetta Donelson (Micheal), and Donna Roberts (Joe). She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Rice.
Brenda’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all.
