Obituary
Charles Levy, Sr., departed this life on May 4, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born March 5, 1939, in Kasiasko, Mississippi, the son of Sarah Latiker-Levy and K.C. Levy.
He married Minnie Johnson-Levy on October 11, 2009.
Mr. Charles Levy was a monitor/counselor at the Illinois School Board of Education for 15 years.
Charles worked for the State Comptroller’s Office for a number of years until opening his own business called, “Shayvon’s Lounge.”
He was a member of Calvery Baptist Church, where he became a walking deacon. He later resided at Compassionate Ministries Fellowship Church with his wife, Minnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and K.C. Levy; daughter, Tasha Levy and brothers, James Levy, Earl Levy and Frank Levy.
He leaves to cherish memories: his wife: Minnie Johnson-Levy; Sons: Charles Levy, Jr., (Laurie) of Chicago, IL, Ronald Levy (Roxanne) of Springfield, IL, William Levy (Tina) of Springfield, IL, Austin Jordan (Leah) of Springfield, IL, bonus son, Shunasey Curry (Andrea) of Springfield, IL; Daughter: Carolyn Levy-Marmolejo (Eurdycie) of Pleasant Plains, IL; his sister, Wardean Fields of Springfield, IL and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Everyone that met Charles loved him. He always loved to mingle, and talk about all the people he met along his life span. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling everywhere to play. He always bragged about meeting “Tiger Woods”. He loved listening to the blues and playing spades.
He always enjoyed giving advice to his children to teach them life lessons and advance further than he did. He was always proud of all his children in everything they did. If he wanted to see his children, he would hop in his car and show up and banging on the door. He may not just show up, but he will always be in our heart.
