Obituary
Cornell Eugene Lewis, known to all as “Corky,” was born on September 25, 1958, in Springfield, Illinois.
He attended Palmer Grade School, Washington Middle School, and Lanphier High School. He received his GED while serving in the U.S. Army.
He had a love for fishing and basketball. He was a talented basketball and football player, as well as a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend.
Corky was strong willed and stubborn at times. He also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous and loyal and he will be truly missed, yet remembered for all the heart he shared with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cornell Lewis; maternal grandparents, Julia and John Hughes; and paternal grandparents, Iretha and Hurdel Bardwell.
He is survived by: mother, Edna Lewis; sisters, Tina Latt, Tabetha Latt, and LaDonna Lewis; brother, David (Jean) Lewis; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
