Obituary

Darryl Lavane Humble departed this life on February 18, 2024, at Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 28, 1950 in Mound City, Illinois, the son of Mildred Brown and Fred Humble.

He married Sallie Raines on May 31, 1974, and they were married for nearly fifty years, reaching their 50th year in May of 2024. Darryl was a stationary engineer with the secretary of state for eleven years and prior to his tenure at the Security of State, Darryl worked for Common Wealth Edison for twenty-five years. Darryl was a member of Union Baptist Church and he made sure to leave an impact on the people he encountered.

Darryl attended local grade schools in his hometown of Mound City, Illinois, and graduated from Meridian High School. He grew up playing baseball and basketball and received a scholarship to play basketball at Pensacola Junior College and Georgia Southern College. Darryl later attended Sangamon State University, now known as University of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois, where he studied Business Management. Darryl received Honors for academics in both high school and college. Later in life, Darryl enjoyed several hobbies, some of which were: basketball, baseball, fishing, hunting, golfing, tennis, art, grilling, (he was known to be a grilling master), Sudoku, word searches, construction such as carpentry and home repair, cars, and listening to music. One of his favorite songs was Mustang Sally. Darryl was known for playing a variety of instruments as well.  

He was preceded in death by his mother; father, Mildred and Fred Humble; sisters, Janet, Dorothy, and Phyllis; and bother, James.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Sallie Humble of Springfield, IL; sons, Kenneth(Ashley) Humble of Chicago, IL, Phillip Humble of Springfield, IL, Darren Wall of Atlanta, GA, and Demond Wall of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Carmeil (Nikie) Foxhall of Dallas, TX; brothers, Lewis  (Sallie) Humble of Grand Blanc, MI, and Michael (Brenda) Humble of Harrisburg, IL; sisters, Carole Belle (Ted) Carroll of San Francisco, CA, and Marion Robinson, with her late husband, Fred Robinson of Leander, TX; nine grandchildren, Kaine Humble-Jones, Mariyah Milford, Deion Fisher, Charelle Kincannon, Darius Kincannon, Ashely-Nicole Wall, Jay-Thomas Wall, Chelsea Wall, and Rowan Wall; six great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
