Obituary

DONALD RANDLE GREEN, departed this life on February 19, 2026, at home in Springfield, Illinois. He was born July 25, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Mr. Donald and Mrs. Velma Green Sr. 

Private First Class Donald Randle Green served in the Illinois National Guard. Donald started his Enlistment April 4, 1979, and honorably served 12 years until April 23, 1991. While in the Army he was trained as a Food Service Specialist, and earned the following decorations: Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Services Reserve Medal (National Guard), and Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #809, AMVETS, and the Salvation Army.

In addition to his proud military service, Mr. Donald Green was known for his work as a USA Trucker (headquarters in Van Buren, Ark) earning a recognition of the company's Driver Referral program contest.  His career includes working with various unions such as: 477 Labor Union, AFSCME Council 31/Local 2600 with the Mother Jones' tributes. As a former Precinct Committeemen with the Sangamon County Democratic Party, he often boasted about his work with various political leaders such as former U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun. and others.

Donald was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church serving as a member of the Security Detail, Mighty Men, Men's Choir, Sunday School and Wednesday Night Bible Study. 

Don enjoyed serving the community working with various organizations such as Habitat for Humanities, VA Peer Support Group, Faith Coalition and the Senior Citizens group. He enjoyed bowling with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Johnnie Mae Williams-Green, his parents Donald Green, Sr. and Velma Green. He had a sister Darlene Green, and three brothers: David Green, Daniel Green, Dennis Green.

He leaves to cherish Carla Jordan who he affectionately referred to as his adoptive daughter, the families of Crystal Jordan/Madison, the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church family and a host of friends.
