Obituary

Dossie Lee Minor, at the age of 69, departed this life on August 12, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.  Dossie was born to the late Henry and Lottie (Bradford) Minor on September 30, 1954, in Starkville, MS.  He accepted Christ and was of the Baptist faith.
 
Dossie was an entrepreneur that loved the horse racing industry. He was a gentleman with integrity and honesty for horse racing.  His prize possessions were his horses: Rocking Republic, Naés Rendezvous and Toughest of the Tough.  
 
He was always the life of the party.  The family couldn’t wait to see him at family gatherings.  He made everyone laugh until they cried.  
 
Dossie leaves behind a legacy of love that will never end, held now in the hearts and memories of family and friends.
 
Dossie is survived by: Monica Hammuck Gates, Fiancé, Springfield, IL, daughters: Christie Minor, Starkville, MS and Raven Rupert, West Point, MS, sons: Enrico and Laderreck of Starkville, MS, Devonte, West Point, MS and Craig Taffee, Matteson, IL. Sisters: Louis (Powell deceased) Gandy, Ada Prater, Mary (Clifton) Brooks, Bessie Williams, Sandra (Glover) Young, JoAnn Minor, Tasha Jones all of Starkville, MS, Rose Lindsey, Buffalo, NY, Mary Jones, Tuscaloosa, AL, Pamela Gibbs, Charlotte, NC, Annie Townsel (deceased), Castella Minor (deceased), and Patsy Jones (deceased). Brothers: Willie Minor, Charles (Gloria) Minor, Melvin (Telisa) Jones, Jodie (Elizabeth) Outlaw and Keith (Shunta) Lawrence all of Starkville, MS, Claude (Gloria) Minor, West Point, MS, Edward (Lakia) Jones, Douglasville, GA, Walter Minor, Alton, IL, Saul (deceased) (Charlene) Minor, and Bobby(deceased) (Dana) Minor, Starkville, MS, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchildren, several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and friends.
