Obituary

Eleanor Denise Day, 67, was born on February 22, 1957, in Springfield, IL. The Lord called her home the morning of June 30, 2024. She was the first born of Robert J. and Barbara J. Day. 
 
She attended Palmer Elementary, Washington Middle, and graduated from Lanphier High School. She also attended Lincoln Land College. She worked at Dawnson’s Home Center from 1975-1976 as a file clerk. She started working for the State of Illinois in 1976 working several positions, she retired from Illinois State Police working in the Fiscal Management department in December of 2014.
 
Eleanor loved the LORD! She was a loyal member of Union Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School, Bible Study, and was a member of the Voices of Union and the Praise Team. 
 
She was preceded in death by both parents, Robert James and Barbara Joyce (Ford) Day; nephew, Reginald B. Day; niece, Elyse N. Davis; great-nephews, Shawntel S. Howze, Jr. and Keyon M. Day.
 
She leaves to cherish her memories: her only son, James A. Day of Springfield, IL; godson, Geoffrey M. Day of Katy, TX; goddaughters, Andrea Day of Springfield, IL and Galisa M. Day of Katy, TX; brothers, Robert A. (Wendy) Day and Hugh D. Day, both of Springfield IL; sister, Ida E. Day of Springfield, IL; companion, Eddie G. Frazier of Springfield, IL; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a host of family and friends.
 
Her love for the Lord and encouraging words and beautiful voice will be remembered by all who knew her.
