Obituary
Our strong courageous father was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. John, the son of Joyce Williams, was born on October 9, 1954, in Springfield, Illinois. John worked several years for Pillsbury in the early 70s before driving a truck for 31-and-a-half years for Capitol Ready-Mix, from where he retired in 2015. John enjoyed spending time watching sports with his family. He was an avid fan of Steph Curry with the Golden State Warriors. He loved to fish, hunt and travel with his family. John loved his wife, children, grandchildren and family with every fiber of his being.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Otis and Florida Jones; sisters, Deborah Hickman and Carolyn Sue Dickerson; and uncle, John C. Jones “Big John”.
Leaves behind to cherish his memories: wife, Norma Jones; daughters, Stacy Griffin and Crystal Curry; sons, Tyron (Megan) Lee, Sr., and John (Leslie) Jones, Jr.; mother, Joyce (Leroy) Williams; grandchildren, Briasia, Kendall, Te’Tiana, Kendrick, Kailei, Tyron, Jr., Tyronn, Ty’rai, Kaylianna, Kmi, Keyera, John III, and Karson; great-grandchild, Ava; brothers in Springfield, IL, Albert Dickerson, Aaron (Linda) Dickerson, Gary Dickerson, Richard Dickerson of New Orleans, LA; sisters in Springfield, IL, Cheryl Rice, Sandra (JB) Logan, Cynthia (Norman) Pearson, Sheila Dickerson, and Aleshia Dickerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
