Obituary

Josaphine Aunna Jones, 20, departed this life on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Springfield, Illinois.
Josaphine Jones, a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, and friend, passed away far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and selflessness. As a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant, she devoted her life to caring for others, always putting their needs before her own. She shared a deep and unwavering love with Makiah, her boyfriend of four years. Together, they were each other’s peace. While Josie being who she is, always found a way to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders, with him, she found a safe space where she didn’t have to think about anything, just love and be loved in return.
Josie’s heart was immense, and her care extended beyond her profession. She was a rock for her siblings Jeraldon, Jaydon, Zayden, and her only sister, Chloe, one of the few people she trusted most. Her younger brother Jaydon, though just a year apart, could never be convinced of it. She also grew up alongside her cousins Salita and Alyia, whom she loved deeply, even if she showed it through her signature tough love. Her cousin Lamiya also knew the warmth of Josie’s care.
Her grandmothers played a special role in her life. As a child, she was her Grandma’s little “Ladybug,” never leaving her side, though as she grew older, she preferred to be called Jazzy Jo. Her other grandmother, Selvarine Jones, was someone she thought the world of, and now they are reunited once more. She also shared an unbreakable bond with her mother, Nichole, who made sure their connection never wavered, no matter life’s challenges.
