Obituary
Katherine Love White, 106, was born August 31, 1917, in Clinton, Indiana. The only child of Oakie Davis and Gordon Conell. She was raised by her mother and loving stepfather J.H. Richardson in Springfield, Illinois, after her father’s death. Early in the morning on June 14, 2024, the Lord called Katherine’s name and she answered.
In 1933, Katherine married Lewis White, who preceded her in death, and from that union four children were born, Bettie, Willis, Barbara, and Gordon. She was a skilled hairdresser and a caring registered nurse. Katherine was also one of the founding members of Monroe Street Christian Church in 1947. Here she served the Lord in different ministries including being a Sunday school teacher and greeter. In 2022, she was recognized for her 75 years of membership and dedicated service to the church.
Katherine was a very active and outgoing person. She traveled the world visiting Mexico, Germany, and Jerusalem to name a few places. She faithfully worked out at the FitClub every morning well into her 90’s. She enjoyed spending time in her garden tending to her flowers and visiting with family and friends. She shared stories and wisdom with her great-grandkids, tickling them and giving raspberries “I got you”!
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Bettie, Willis and Gordon; granddaughter, Denise “Angel”; grandsons, Willis and Mark; great-grandson, Marlo; and great-great-grandson, Adarion.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her daughter Barbara Robinson, grandchildren William Jonathan (Carmen) McCombs, Katherine “Kim” McCombs, Pam White, Debbie (Tommy) Collier, Alberta Daniels, Luke Robinson, DeVonna Robinson, Byron Robinson, Anthony Robinson and Gregory Robinson, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren. As well as Pastor James A. Johnson who often visited and worshiped with her when she was no longer able to attend service in person.
Her infectious smile and contagious laugh, words of wisdom, witty responses and love will be remembered by all.
