Obituary
Keith Leroy Powell was born on January 7, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Latonya Powell and Keith Coakley Green. Keith departed on January 9, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Keith began his education at Talman Elementary School and continued through to Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois. Keith was a member of Wayfair Church of God in Christ located in Chicago, Illinois. He was always a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. Keith was known for his impressive cooking skills, his ability to light up a room, and fill it with joy and laughter. Keith started a new chapter in his life when he married the love of his life, DeAngela Hazel, on July 22, 2021. Keith was an entrepreneur, starting his own business, KnDs Painting Powell, where he did amazing work for Fifth Street Renaissance and other residents of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Latonya Powell; biological father, Keith Coakley Green; first cousin, Ladonna Powell; cousin, Alonzo Powell; aunt, Lynette Powell; and bonus father, Bobby Heard.
He leaves his mother and father who raised him, Sherry and Vincent Powell of Gary, IN; wife, DeAngela Powell; children, Kaijah Powell of California, Kierra Bates, Aricka Powell, Nadine Powell, Journay Bates, and his bonus daughters, Lakyia Drew and Makayla Hazel who reside in Springfield, IL; sisters, Vernavais Powell of Wisconsin, Diane Powell, Precious Powell of Chicago, Lashawn Powell, Dana Young, Tiffine Young, Domonique Powell, Shriee Powell of Indiana, Helen Powell, and Porchae Pettis of Springfield, IL; brothers, Terry Powell, Bobby Mapp of Chicago, Keivontae Powell, Marquis Powell-Pettis of Springfield, IL; one grandson, Immanuel Bates; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends of the family to cherish his memories.
