Obituary
Leola D. Wallace, 72, departed this life on Monday, March 25, 2024, at her home. She was born November 18, 1951, in Inverness, Mississippi, the daughter of Girlie and Charlie Wallace.
She worked for District 186, St John’s Hospital, Respite for SPARC, and ended her work history at Nehemiah Day Care Center.
She was an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church until her health begin to fail. She served on the Usher Board, participated as a Golden Age Stepper, and sang in the Annual Women’s Day choir.
Leola was preceded in death by her parents; Charlie and Girlie Wallace; sister, Victor Ruth; brothers, Charlie and Rufus Wallace; and nephews, Percy “Montez” Gardner, Terrance”Scab” Wallace, and Vincent” Martin” Bell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Shawn M. Wallace (Patricia) of Glenwood, IL; daughters,
Stacetta Wallace (Anthony) of Springfield, IL and Armiece King (Kristopher) of Springfield, IL; six sisters, Hattie Drake of Fairfield, CA, Annie Wallace of Memphis, TN, Nadine Bennett of Springfield, IL, Minister Katie Page of Springfield, IL, Norma Currie of Springfield, IL, and Evangelist Irma Cooper (Charles)of Springfield, IL; one brother, Ruben Wallace (Mary) of Springfield, IL; ten grandchildren, Avery, Laterika, Bryah, Shawn Jr., Ahmaad, Ahmarion, Colton, JadeLyn, Krista, and Amoreye; eight great-grandchildren, Aa’Nyah, Jayden, Amari, August, Rylan, Skylar, Arriss and Bostyn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends; best friend, Lonnie Harris.
