Obituary
Lowvell Ross, Sr., departed this life on January 24, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
He was born June 21, 1945, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, the son of Clara Bell Ross and John Henry Ross.
Mr. Lowvell Ross, Sr., moved from Arkansas to Chicago at an early age. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War.
He was later baptized in Jesus Name and moved to Caruthersville, Missouri, where he was called into the ministry. He later moved to Springfield, Illinois, and was appointed Bishop and Pastor.
He was a laborer by trade and retired from ABF Freight.
He was also employed at the Shipyard in Caruthersville, Missouri, for ten years. He was Pastor of Christway Apostolic Church in Decatur, Illinois, until the Lord called him home.
He was preceded in death by mother, Clara Bell Ross; father, John Henry Ross; sisters, Bernice Roberts, Gladys Palmer, and Ella Mae (Patsy) Ross; and brothers, Gerome Ross, Alvin Ross, and Curtis Ross.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of fifty years, Elnora Ross; sons, Jimmy Hibbler (Wife Sharon) of Carthersville, MO, Lowvell Ross (Wife Jennifer) of Decatur, IL, and Steven Ross (Wife LaSand) of Springfield, IL; daughter, Jacqueline Lane (Husband Ray) of Springfield, IL; sisters, Daisy Bones (Husband Ricky) of Holly Grove, AR, Jane Ross of Holly Grove, AR, Lola Amos (Husband Ray) of Stuttgart, AR, Stella Foreman (Husband Darrell) of Port Arthur, TX, Patricia Arnold of Holly Grove, AR, and Pearl Parks of Holly Grove, AR; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; additional loved ones; goddaughters, Melinda Russell, Rosie Jones, and Patricia Elem; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, friends, and Saints.
