Obituary
Marie Holmes-Williams, 81, departed this life on May 29, 2023 at her residence. She was born September 7, 1941 in McCrory Arkansas, the daughter of Mattie Walker and Charles Russell.
She married Simon Wesley Williams (Sam).
She was a care provider at Sacred Heart Home Healthcare, for family and friends, Christian Welfare Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital of East St. Louis, Baines Hospital of Missouri and Weldon in East St. Louis.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Wesley Williams (Sam); one baby boy; parents, Mattie Walker and Charles Russell; sister, Sherry M. Flakes; brothers, Sylvester and Keith Flakes.
She leaves to cherish memories: her sons, Victor Russell, Myron Henderson and Michael Henderson all of Springfield, IL; daughters, Patricia Henderson and Tracie Williams(Kevin), both of Springfield, IL, and Cynthia Davis(DJ) of Centerville, IL; brothers; John(JB) Flakes and Sammie Flakes(Jennifer) both of Bloomington, IL, James Walker(Joyce) of Arizona, William(Floyd) Flowers of California and Gregory Flowers of Belleville, IL sisters, Bernice Bushbond of Fairview Heights, IL, Annette Flowers of Cahokia, IL and Darlene Vickers(Tony) of Bloomington, IL; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one dear uncle, Charles(Cassandra)Walker; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
