Obituary

Nancy Ann (McDonald) Pitts, a woman of great strength, love, and warmth was born on August 2, 1954, in Mexico, Missouri. She was the cherished daughter of Robert Eugene McDonald, Sr., and Doris Lucille (Johnson) McDonald. She departed this life on January 10, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.
 
Nancy was a devoted nurse who worked at St. John’s Hospital for numerous of years where she touched countless lives with her compassion and care. She was also a selfless supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, donating every month to help children in need. She had a passion for dancing, loved cooking and baking, and was a very loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan to the very end. 
 
On January 16, 1984, she married the love of her life Joseph Lee Pitts and together they shared a memorable life filled with love and dedication. Nancy’s life was centered on her family and her faith. She had a special bond with her three grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her nurturing spirit knew no bounds. She was a source of love and comfort to everyone she encountered embracing all with a caring heart.
 
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Robert Eugene McDonald, Sr., and Doris Lucille (Johnson) McDonald; brother, Micheal Edward McDonald; sister, Wanda Charlene McDonald; granddaughter, Danielle Angel Roberts; and several beloved cousins who shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
 
She leaves to cherish her husband/companion of 41 years, Joseph Lee Pitts; their only child, her loving daughter, April Joann Pitts; brother, Robert Eugene McDonald, Jr.; sisters, Toni (Harold) Fountain, Christine Scott, Twila (Sherman) Overton, and Doris “Chenie” McDonald; grandchildren, Jayeapriel White, Andrew White, and Kendrick Pitts; and a great number of nieces, nephews cousins, and friends.
