Obituary

Robert Gorens Jr. “Robbie” departed this life on August 7th 2023 at Regency Care, the son of Betty June Cox-Gorens and Robert Gorens Sr.
 
Robert Gorens Jr was a Messenger for the House of Representatives for 38 years and retired in year 2020. Robbie grew up attending various churches and learned to love God and study the word of God from his mother’s example. Robbie inherited a love of sports from his father and uncles. 
 
Robbie loved to cheer on his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins. Robbie played baseball as a child on his uncle Harold’s little league team, and softball as an adult. Robbie enjoyed playing basketball recreationally and loved to watch his grandson and nephew play. Robbie was best known among friends and family for hosting hours long Play Station tournaments. Robbie took pride in his work, and rarely ever took extra time and he always had a positive attitude while doing his work. Robbie was always a self-sufficient person who took pride in his cooking, most notably, his famous Mac n Cheese. Robbie loved traveling to celebrate family reunions and special event with his friends and family. Robbie was deeply devoted to his daughter and Grandchildren and offering them his love and support was his greatest pleasure.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; Betty Cox-Gorens and Robert Gorens Sr and his, Niece Kendra Gorens.
 
He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Alexia Starr Hamilton of Springfield, IL beloved sisters, Murdee Gorens-Mabery (Bobby) and Pamela Gorens (Darryl) and brother, Todd Gorens all of Springfield, IL 5 grandchildren and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
